Discover Die Perle Tirols

Located at Passauer Str. 7, 94078 Freyung, this restaurant serves up more than just delicious food - it offers an experience that connects with both locals and visitors alike.

Upon entering Die Perle Tirols, you’re greeted by the warm, rustic ambiance that makes it clear right away that you’re in for a memorable meal. The atmosphere feels just right, with traditional décor paired with modern touches. It’s the kind of place that invites you to relax and linger over your meal, without feeling rushed. Whether you're here for a casual meal with friends, a family gathering, or even a special celebration, the setting adapts to every occasion.

Let’s talk about the food. The menu at Die Perle Tirols is a delightful reflection of Tyrolean cuisine, offering an array of dishes that highlight the region’s rich culinary traditions. One standout item is the Tiroler Gröstl - a traditional Austrian dish made with hearty potatoes, onions, and your choice of meats, all sizzling in a skillet. It's the perfect comfort food that warms you up, especially on a chilly day.

For something lighter, the fresh salads and homemade soups are an excellent option. The mixed greens are always crisp, and the soups are rich in flavor, often prepared using locally sourced ingredients. There’s a noticeable difference in quality when the ingredients are fresh and grown nearby, which is something that Die Perle Tirols does exceptionally well.

If you’re a fan of meats, particularly the kind that are slow-cooked and bursting with flavor, you’re in for a treat. The Tirol-style pork roast, served with a generous helping of red cabbage and dumplings, is one of their signature dishes and a crowd favorite. The pork is tender, the skin perfectly crispy, and the flavors meld together beautifully. Each bite transports you to the heart of Tyrol, giving you a true taste of the region’s food culture.

And for those with a sweet tooth, the dessert menu is not to be overlooked. The Kaiserschmarrn, a fluffy, shredded pancake often served with fruit compote, is a fantastic way to end the meal. Pair it with a local dessert wine, and you’ve got yourself a satisfying conclusion to an unforgettable dining experience.

But what really sets Die Perle Tirols apart is the level of personal service. The staff here are incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring you have everything you need while also allowing you to enjoy your meal at your own pace. The owner often comes out to chat with diners, making you feel right at home. It's this personal touch that keeps people coming back, not just for the food but for the warm atmosphere.

Whether you're here to explore the natural surroundings or just passing through, a visit to this eatery is a great way to immerse yourself in the local culture.

What’s more, the menu at Die Perle Tirols is updated regularly to reflect seasonal changes, which means there’s always something new to try. Local specialties are featured throughout the year, giving guests a chance to taste the best that Tyrol has to offer, no matter the time of year.

In addition to the food, the restaurant places a strong emphasis on sustainability. They source many of their ingredients from nearby farms and suppliers, ensuring that their dishes are not only fresh but also environmentally responsible. • The food was really something else! Amazing quality of the ingredients, super taste and fair prices! If you ever pass this place, don’t miss the opportunity to eat something here. I’m vegetarian so I highly recommend the gnocchi!

  • Very good homemade small restaurant, which is open (in contrast to the most of restaurants in Freyung) on Mondays.

  • A true hidden gem in Freyung, clearly loved by locals and now by us too. This traditional Bavarian restaurant has an authentic, rustic charm that makes you feel instantly at home. The food was absolutely fantastic: hearty, full of flavour, and genuinely traditional. It’s only open on certain days of the week, but if you’re lucky enough to be in town when it is, do not miss it. Highly recommended!
